          National   Jute  Board  ( NJB )  organized   JUTE  FAIR,  a  promotional   Exhibition cum Sale  at  Chennai,  during   the  period  12th  to 16th Dec’19,  as  part  of  the  promotional  activities  of  NJB.   Nearly 30 Jute Entrepreneurs  from  all  over  India  participated  with  varied  range  of  Jute Lifestyle products. Shri.Kumar Jayant, I.A.S, Principal  Secretary  to  Government, Handlooms,  Handicrafts,  Textiles and  Khadi  Dept, Govt.  of  Tamilnadu,  inaugurated the promotional Jute Fair  and also  visited the  Jute Stalls.  Shri.T.Ayyappan, Deputy Director (Marketing), NJB, Chennai,  made  the  inaugural  arrangements  for  the  promotional  event.   Shri.Mohandas, Mrigniaini  and  other State Govt. officials  were also  present during the occasion.  Chief Guest  appreciated  the  developments  in the  Jute  Sector  and  also  assured  to  provide  necessary  support  for the promotion  of  Eco-Friendly  Jute  products

“Jute Week”
at Ooty, 30th May to 5th June’14

          National   Jute  Board  (NJB) organized  participation in the SIPPO’s  JUTE  WEEK,  a  promotional fair at Ooty (Udhagamandalam), during  the period  05.06.2015 to 09.06.2015,  as  part  of  the  “ENVIRONMENT DAY”  Celebrations.    18 Jute Units from  all over India  participated  with  varied  range  of  Jute Lifestyle products.


    Shri. T.Palanikumar, Project Director, Mahalir Thittam,  Ooty,  inaugurated the Show  and also  visited the  Jute Stalls. MPO (T. Ayyappan) briefed  the developments  in the  Jute  sector  to the  Chief Guest.   Chief  Guest  interacted  with the  Jute  artisan  and  appreciated the  workmanship of the Jute artisans.  Mrs. Henna Dickson, Asst. Project Officer, Mahallir Thittam,  Mr. Ramakrishnan, APO, Magallir Thittam  and  other  officials  from  Pudhuvalvu  Thittam  were  also  present  during the inauguration. Small  Industries  Product  Promotion  Organisation (SIPPO)  co-ordinated  the  entire  organising  of  the  event.

As  part of the  Jute Week  programme, An Awareness Workshop on Jute was also organized by NJB through Small Industries Product Promotion organization (SIPPO), on 05.06.2015  in USSS Training Hall,  Ooty.   75 Women  entrepreneurs  from  various  SHGs participated in the Jute Awareness Workshop.      The Awareness Workshop was Inaugurated by Shri. T.Palanikumar, Project Director, Mahalir Thittam, Ooty.   He appreciated the effort taken by National Jute Board  &  SIPPO.

(17th Dec’14  to 21st Dec’14)


          National   Jute  Board  ( NJB )  organized   JUTE  FAIR,  a  promotional   Exhibition cum Sale  at  Kozhikode (Calicut), Kerala,  during   the  period  17th Dec'14 to  21st Dec’14,  as  part  of  the  promotional  activities  of  NJB.   Nearly 28 Jute Entrepreneurs  from  all  over  India  participated  with  varied  range  of  Jute Lifestyle products. In  place  of  Deputy Mayor, Kozhikode, Mrs. Janamma Kunhunni, Chairperson (Health Committee)  Corporation of Kozhikode,  inaugurated the promotional Jute Fair  and also  visited the  Jute Stalls.  Shri.T.Ayyappan, MPO, NJB, Chennai,  made  the  inaugural  arrangements  for  the  promotional  event.   Other State Govt.  & Corporation officials  were also  present during the occasion.  Chief Guest  appreciated  the  developments  in the  Jute  Sector  and  also  assured  that Good support  will be provided by Kozhikode corporation  for the promotion  of  Eco-Friendly  Jute  products

Jute  Festival, Chennai, 18th to 22nd  Dec’2013


National  Jute  Board (NJB),  a promotional   body  under the Ministry of  Textiles,  Govt. of  India,   organized  a  “Jute  Festival”,   comprising  of  “Jute  fair”,  an  Exhibition cum  Sale  and  “Buyer Seller Meet”  at  Chennai  during the  period   from  18th  to  22nd   Dec’2013  at  M/s. Arulmigu  Karpakambal Thirumana Mandapam,  (Opp :  Sai Baba  Temple) Mylapore, Chennai 600004.  This event  was  inaugurated  by Dr. S. Sundararaj, M.B.B.S, Honorable  Minister for Handlooms  & Textiles,  Govt. of  Tamilnadu,  on 18th Dec’13.   Shri.Harmander Singh, I.A.S, Principal  Secretary  to Government,  Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles and  Khadi  Department, Govt. of  Tamilnadu. Mrs. J.P. Chandrika, Councillar  of  Mylapore, Shri. N.Viswanathan, Asst. Director, Federation of Indian Exporters  Organisation,  Shri. Vinay Raj, Dy. Director,  Textile  Committee  and  many  other  officials were also  graced  the  occasion.     Minister appreciated  the  initiative of  NJB  in  promoting  and marketing of jute lifestyle products both within the country and in International Markets  and  also  the  employment  opportunities  being provided  to the Jute  entrepreneurs, in  Tamilnadu.   

Minister appraised that the banning of plastic packaging in many areas has driven the demand for eco-friendly products  and  emphasized  that  Jute being  an  eco-friendly  products,  it  could  be the  ideal  alternative  for  Environment.   The  various  diversifications, in the  form  of  Jute  blended  Sarees,  Jute  blended  fabrics,  Jute Bags of varied  range, like, shopping bag, sling bag, Hobo bags, Totes,  Travel bags,  and  stylish  Jute  bags,  are  very much  appreciated by the  Minister.  Particularly  the  new  designs  like  Jute Foldable Tiles,  Jute expandable bags, Jute  mattings, Jute  belt,  also  was well  appreciated  by the  Chief  Guest.   He  also assured  that,  the  State  Government  will  extend necessary  support  for the  promotion  of  Jute  entrepreneurs in the  State.
